Kurssin kuvaus
Pitkittäis- ja paneeliaineistojen analysointi on 5 op:n tilastotieteen aine-opintojen kurssi.
Kurssin voi suorittaa syventävänä, jolloin tenttikysymykset ovat vaativammat kuin aine-opintona suorittaville.
Kurssin tarkoituksena on perehdyttää kuulijat pitkittäis- ja paneeliaineistojen hyödyntämismahdollisuuksiin muuttujien välisiä riippuvuuksia koskevien päätelmien tekemisessä. Kurssilla käsitellään paneeliaineistojen analyysiä erikoistapauksena moniyhtälömallien käyttämisestä ja esitetään miten tilastollinen päättely voidaan tehdä yleistetyn pienimmän neliösumman estimaattorin avulla. Kurssilla käsitellään paneeliaineiston käyttöä tilanteissa, joissa jokin muuttuja jää havaitsematta sekä käsitellään satunnaisvaikutuksen ja kiinteitten vaikutusten menetelmiä. Suurinta huomiota kiinnitetään jatkuviin vastemuuttujiin, mutta myös kvalitatiiviset vasteet sekä lukumäärävasteet tulevat esille kurssilla.

Luennot
Luennot pidetään torstaisin 14.15-15.45 ja perjantaisin 12.15-13.45 salissa KO143.
Luennot pidetään kevätlukukauden 2014 2. periodilla. Luentokurssi kestää 7 viikkoa siten, että kurssiin kuuluu yhteensä 14 kahden tunnin luentokertaa, eli yhteensä 28 tuntia luentoja.

Laskuharjoitukset pidetään keskiviikkoisin 16.15-17.45 Mikroluokassa M304 Matemaattisten tieteiden laitoksella. Laskuharjoituksia pidetään 7 kertaa.

Harjoituksista voi saada lisäpisteitä. Lisäpisteitä annetaan suorassa suhteessa tehtyjen tehtävien määrään. Lisäpisteiden suurin määrä on 10. Koko kurssin maksimipistemäärä on 30, koska tentissä on 5 tehtävää ja jokaisesta tehtävästä voi saada 6 pistettä. Täydet pisteet voi siis saada pelkästään tenttiin osallistumalla.
Laskuharjoitusten ohjauksessa käytetään R ohjelmistoa, mutta tietokonetehtävät voi tehdä haluamallaan ohjelmalla.
